Student Financial Aid and Scholarships
Accepting your Financial Aid Award art General Financial AId Information art

Once the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships has processed an official FAFSA, the office will send qualified students a Financial Aid Award Letter. When a student receives a Financial Aid Award Letter they must notify the office of their intention to accept or decline all or any portion of their award. Acceptance of an award signals to the office a student’s intention to receive financial aid at the UO. The sooner the office receives this information from the student, the sooner the office is able to respond to any adjustments a student may request to be made to their offer. The Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships expects a response from students within the time frame indicated on the initial award letter, which is typically within thirty days of the date printed on the letter.

You may accept your award in one of two ways:

Scholarship Notification

It is a student’s responsibility to report the names and amounts of any scholarships they are receiving that are not already listed on the Financial Aid Award Letter. If a student is accepting their award online, they will need to notify the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships via email at fawww@uoregon.edu. There is a section on the reverse of the Financial Aid Award Letter on which they should list scholarships if notifying the office via mail.

Graduate Teaching Fellowship (GTF) Notification

It is the student’s responsibility to report any GTF position they may be accepting for the aid year to the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Students are asked to specify the term(s) during which they will be accepting the GTF position. As with scholarship notification, students may notify the office of their GTF position electronically via email at fawww@uoregon.edu, or on the back of the paper Financial Aid Award Letter.

Veterans Administration Benefits Notification

It is the student’s responsibility to report any V.A. benefits they may be receiving for the aid year to the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. Students are asked to specify the monthly amount(s) of the benefits the number of months they will be receiving them. Students may notify the office of their V.A. benefits via email at fawww@uoregon.edu, or on the back of the paper Financial Aid Award Letter.

Notification of Other Resources

It is the student’s responsibility to report any other funding or benefits they may be receiving to assist them with their educational costs, such as stipends, residence assistantships, staff tuition rates, etc. Students are asked to notify the office via email at fawww@uoregon.edu or by completing the section on the reverse of the paper Financial Aid Award Letter.
