The University of Oregon and Oregon Community Credit Union recognize that a growing number of students find it necessary to both work and take out large loans while attending college full time. The Oregon Community Credit Union Scholarship Program was created to provide financial support for Oregon students with demonstrated financial need who achieve academic excellence and contribute to the community in which they live.

Oregon Community Credit Union Scholars are students who understand the value of dedication and hard work. Each scholarship is worth $4800 a year.

In order to receive consideration students must have graduated from high school in one of the following Oregon counties: Benton, Clackamas, Columbia, Lane, Linn, Marion, Multnomah, Polk, Washington or Yamhill.

Both prospective and currently enrolled UO students, from freshman through senior standing, are eligible to receive Oregon Community Credit Union Scholarships.

Prospective students must submit the following materials, postmarked on or before January 15, 2008 (freshmen) or February 1, 2008 (Transfer Applicants).

  • Undergraduate admission application, including the University Scholarship Application portion and all supporting documents, submitted to the Office of Admissions.

  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or renewal FAFSA where appropriate, completed and submitted to the federal processor

Current UO students must submit the following materials postmarked on or before February 1, 2008.

  • University of Oregon Scholarship Application, and all supporting documents, submitted to the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.

  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or renewal FAFSA where appropriate, completed and submitted to the federal processor

All applicants must:

  • Have a high school GPA of 3.50 or higher.

  • All students must submit an extra-curricular activities listing, one short statement, and one essay as part of the University of Oregon Scholarship Application.

Students are selected based on academic achievements, community involvement, and financial need.

At the time of award, recipients are told how many total terms of scholarship funding they may received. OCCU Scholarships are automatically renewed annually, as long as students maintain renewal criteria.

Oregon Community Credit Union scholarship recipients will be notified by April 15, 2008.
