Approximately twenty-five Robert W. and Bernice Ingalls Staton Scholarships are awarded each year to incoming Oregon freshmen with extraordinary financial need. Scholars receive approximately $5,000 annually, renewable for up to four years of study.
Bernice Ingalls Staton established the Staton Scholarship Program in 2001 so that students who desire to further their education are able to do so without financial burden.

These scholarships are for incoming freshmen only. In order to be considered for this scholarship, a student must meet the following additional requirements:

Be an Oregon resident

Have extraordinary financial need

Preference is given to students who declare a major in the Humanities, Department of Fine Arts, the College of Education, or the School of Music

Applicants must submit the following materials:

Admission application, to the Office of Admissions, submitted electronically or postmarked by January 15, 2008.

Recipients are selected based primarily on financial need. Other factors taken into consideration include the student’s major and professional objective, academic performance, and family educational history with priority given to first-generation students.

Staton Scholarships are renewed annually, as long as recipients meet the following criteria:
- Maintain good academic standing
- Make satisfactory progress toward completion of degree objective, completing no fewer than 12 credits each term of the academic year

Recipients of Staton Scholarships will be notified by April 15, 2008.
