Award Letter
Revising Your Award Letter
In some cases you are required to have us revise your award letter to reflect your proper eligibility. In other cases you have the option of having us review your expenses and status in order to be considered for higher estimated student expenses and additional financial aid funding.
Other Financial Resources
You are responsible for reporting the names and amounts of all educational resources including, but not limited to, scholarships, stipends, grants, tuition support (GTF, GRF, College of Education grants, and so forth) and V.A. educational benefits provided monthly and for tuition assistance.
Class Level and Enrollment Status Adjustments
We have reported your initial class level based on the information you reported on the FAFSA that was provided to our office. You must notify our office of any changes to your class level that affect your financial aid eligibility. We provide a new award letter with updated class level information and your new financial aid eligibility, if applicable, after newly reported information is provided to us.
Your enrollment status is determined based upon the information you have provided on the FAFSA. You may make enrollment level changes using the Revision Request Form before receiving financial aid. Note that enrollment level changes cannot be made after you are paid financial aid for that term. You are responsible for completing the number of credits for which you were paid.
Estimated Student Expense Adjustments
You may incur educational costs greater than those reflected in the estimated student expenses section of your Award Letter. We recognize that some situations, if thoroughly documented, justifies requests for additional funding within the limits of federal and institutional policy.
Our financial aid staff may adjust your estimated student expenses to include items that are directly related to meeting your educational costs, such as:
- Actual tuition and fees if they exceed the amounts we have projected
- Extraordinary costs for books and supplies necessary for classes in your major field of study
- Extra costs associated with participation in University of Oregon programs away from campus
- Childcare expenses incurred when you and your spouse are at work or in class
- Medical insurance or medical costs not covered by insurance
- Extra costs related to a disability
- Liability insurance and repairs for an automobile may be considered if your car is required for education-related travel or for commuting from outside the Eugene-Springfield area.
- Actual resident hall costs if they exceed the amounts we have projected
- Standard increase if you reside in single-occupancy housing
- Standard increase for the purchase or rental of a personal computer
Due to limitations on the types and amounts of financial aid available to assist with your educational expenses, you should consult our office to determine your options prior to requesting a review of your expenses.
