Verification of Student Income Information (Non-Tax Filer)

Your financial aid application was selected for review in a process called verification for the 2023-24 academic year. The university has the right to review this information prior to awarding federal aid (34 CFR, Part 668). If corrections are necessary, we will notify the federal processors and send you a revised offer of financial aid indicating any changes in aid eligibility.

If you* have not filed, will not file, and are not required to file a 2021 tax return, you must submit:

  • Student's IRS Verification of Non-Filing Letter for tax year 2021 (independent students only)
  • All W-2s for 2021. (If no W-2 was issued because no income was earned in 2021, check the appropriate box in section B-2.)
  • The signed and completed 2023-2024 Verification Worksheet with the appropriate box checked in section B-2.

*Important Note: if you are married, you must include income information for both you and your spouse.

To obtain the IRS Verification of Non-Filing Letter:

All non-tax filers are required to provide a IRS Verification of Non-Filing Letter dated on or after October 1, 2022 that indicates a 2021 IRS income tax return was not filed with the IRS. After receiving the Verification of Non-Filing Letter from the IRS, include the student's UO ID, then submit to our office.
