Financial Aid Award Letter
New students that have met the priority deadline begin receiving award letters in the mail starting in April. Continuing students are notified that their award is available on Duckweb starting in May. Award letters are sent on an on-going basis throughout the year based on the date the FAFSA was completed.
After you receive your award letter, the next step will be to complete the financial aid checklist.
New Students
The award letter you receive in the mail displays the types and amounts of financial aid for which you are eligible during the academic year (see a sample). It is assumed you wish to accept grant funds so they are "Accepted" by default. Loans and work-study are offered as "Pending" and must be actively accepted. If you are not sure if you want to accept a loan, it is better to accept it now and make changes later so you have time to carefully plan for the coming year. Because funds are limited, if you decline a loan now, we may not be able to reinstate it later.
Your award represents the best offer of assistance from the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships based upon your Expected Family Contribution. Awards cannot be negotiated and we do not match offers from other schools. If you or your parents have experienced a sudden loss of income (divorce, death, job loss, etc) please contact our office.
