– Deadlines Extended –

Due to the delay in FAFSA data being supplied to the University of Oregon, the UO is extending the confirmation deadline to June 1, 2024, for first-year students admitted for fall 2024. We are also extending the priority FAFSA filing deadline to April 1, 2024, for all UO students.

Independent as Emancipated Minor

On the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you indicated that you are an emancipated minor. You must to provide additional documentation before your financial aid can be processed.

Action Required

Provide the Financial Aid Office with photocopies of the court order in the state of your legal residence showing your status as an emancipated minor.

What if I have lost my court documents?

Copies of documents may be obtained from your caseworker if you no longer have them.


What if I was not emancipated as a minor in my state of legal residence?

You will need to correct your FAFSA and include your parents’ information and signature in order for your application to be official.

What if I have unusual circumstances concerning the relationship with my parents?

If you have unusual circumstances and wish to be considered an independent student for financial aid purposes, you have the option of providing additional information if you wish to request a dependency override.
