The following are the terms and conditions of the Stamps Scholarship at the University of Oregon.
Before You Enroll at the UO
- Maintain honorable grades for the remainder of high school.
- Complete all courses required for admission to the University of Oregon.
- Register for full-time enrollment (at least 12 UO credits) for the fall term of your entering year.
Renewal Criteria
Your scholarship renewal is evaluated annually at the end of each spring term. To renew, you must:
- Maintain a 3.25 cumulative University of Oregon GPA.
- Complete at least 12 UO credits for each term in which you receive a disbursement of your scholarship.
If you don’t meet renewal criteria at the time of annual review, you may work toward having the scholarship reinstated in subsequent terms by raising your GPA and/or completing additional credits. If your scholarship is not automatically renewed due to eligibility or lack of enrollment, you must submit an email once you are enrolled and eligible requesting that your scholarship be reinstated.
Covering Your Tuition and Fees
The Stamps Scholarship covers undergraduate tuition and fees, up to 18 credits per term. If you are enrolled in the Robert D. Clark Honors College, your Stamps Scholarship will also cover the tuition differential.
Financial aid disburses at the beginning of each term to full-time, eligible students. Following the last day to add classes, if there are any remaining tuition and fee costs not already covered in the initial disbursement, those costs will be covered at that time.
Living Expenses and Other Costs
Resident Students Only: The Stamps Scholarship covers a set amount for living expenses (food and housing). If you are on campus, the scholarship provides funding for a standard meal plan and up to but not exceeding the amount of a double with bath in the New Residence Hall. If you receive a more expensive room assignment, the difference must be covered by other resources. If you are living off campus, the scholarship provides funding for the average cost of off-campus living as determined each year by the Office of Student Financial Aid & Scholarships.
Enrichment Funds
Over the course of your four years, you may also receive up to $12,000 in Stamps Enrichment Funding to use towards experiences such as study abroad, academic conferences, unpaid internships, and undergraduate research. To use these funds, follow the formal request process established by the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships in consultation with the UO Stamps Program Lead.
Length of Scholarship
You may have up to 12 academic terms of the scholarship to use for undergraduate study. Your 12 terms of eligibility must be used within five years of your first scholarship disbursement. Students enrolled in a five-year degree program will receive the scholarship for up to 15 academic terms of undergraduate study, to be used within six years of the first scholarship disbursement. These degree programs include BIArch (interior architecture) and BArch (architecture). Should you graduate before you reach the maximum number of terms awarded, then your Stamps Scholarship eligibility is over, and the remainder of the award cannot be used toward pursuing other degrees.
Study Abroad
You may use your scholarship for study abroad programs that are through Global Education Oregon (GEO) at the University of Oregon. Any program for which you are not receiving at least 12 UO credits per term is not an eligible program, even if you are made aware of it through the GEO office. To understand what costs will be covered and to ensure scholarship payment, report your plans to pursue study abroad to the UO Stamps Program Lead.
Summer Courses
The Stamps Scholarship may be used for summer term charges upon a written request submitted to the Stamps Program Lead. You must maintain full-time enrollment at the UO for summer terms in which you receive the scholarship. Summer term usage counts toward your maximum number of terms.
Impact of Other Scholarships
If you are the recipient of federal or state grants, institutional grants, scholarships, or stipends, or scholarships received from outside providers, your Stamps Scholarship amount may be adjusted. You may not receive more than your full cost of attendance between all aid sources combined. Students may not receive the Stamps Scholarship and most other centrally administered scholarships, including but not limited to the Prestige, the Presidential, UO Excellence, Summit, Apex, General University, Duck Excellence or the UO IB Scholarship. If you have previously been offered one of these scholarships, this offer replaces it.
